All commissions are painted in either acrylic, gouache or mixed media on canvas, paper or wood panels.

Below I’ve included examples of the different sizes with photos showing me holding the paintings, where possible, so you can see them in context. If you would like to commission a size not mentioned below please do get in touch and I will do my best to accommodate.

 

For all commissions I request a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure the slot on my commission list. The remainder will be due, together with postage costs, once the commission is complete. I will always agree the composition before starting to paint. Some people like to see in-progress shots as the commission progresses; others prefer to wait for a big reveal at the end – please just let me know your preference.

 

If you would like a commission by a particular date – a birthday or Christmas gift, for example – please book your slot in good time. Depending on the size and complexity of the painting I will need at least two weeks painting time plus postage times. If it is too late or you don’t have reference photos,  I also offer gift cards in any denomination. The recipient can then contact me to discuss what they would like and provide their own reference photos.

Reference photo requirements

So that I can aim to create the best possible likeness, the clearer and more detailed the reference photo, the better. For headshot portraits, it's best to have your animal companion either looking up at the camera or at eye level, taken in daylight with the details of their fur and eyes clearly shown. If you send a selection of photos, we can then work together to decide on what will make the best composition for their portrait. I'm also happy to discuss a composition which includes your best pal in their favourite location if you would like more than a headshot. I rarely get the pleasure of meeting the subjects of my portraits in real life, so along with sending their photos please feel free to tell me a wee bit about them and what makes them special so I can capture their true spirt and unique personality in their portrait.

 

If you don't have clear photos 

I understand that sometimes, particularly for a memorial portrait for a beloved pet who has passed away, the choice of photos may be limited. In that case, please still do get in touch and I will do my best to work with you to capture their essence.
